“It is an honor to help an organization that has played such an integral role in helping others in our community,” said Allan Peiser, CPA, Managing Partner of Goldin Peiser & Peiser, LLP. “As a firm, we are always looking for ways to give back to the community, and we believe helping those in need this holiday season is one of the most rewarding ways to do so.”
The Food 4 Kids program began in an effort to help elementary school children on the free and reduced-price meal program by providing them with meals and snacks on the weekend. The program provides backpacks full of nonperishable, kid-friendly food for them to take home on Friday afternoons and bring back the following Monday. In 2012, the program provided food to 330 schools and approximately 11,000 chronically hungry children in Dallas, Denton, Collin, Rockwall and Fannin counties each weekend during the school year.
For the second year in a row, GPP chose the North Texas Food Bank as its charity. With the help of 30 employees, GPP exceeded its 2012 totals and assembled 8,000 meals in just over one hour. The firm also made a monetary contribution in addition to its volunteer efforts. In combination with the meals packed, GPP’s financial contribution provided a total of 16,000 meals to North Texas residents.
Throughout the year, the firm has participated in other efforts to help the Food Bank, including holding its own food drive to collect peanut butter for the NTFB’s “Spreading the Faith Peanut Butter Drive.” The firm will also be holding a food drive to benefit the Food Bank in conjunction with its open house in mid-December.
